The Polestar 5's UK road tests landed on 6 October 2026. Carwow's timing gear backed up Polestar's 3.1-second 0-60 mph claim, Autocar weighed it at 2,500 kg, and almost every reviewer criticised the touchscreen-only controls. Our take: it looks aggressive and long, the cabin and the 4+1 seating are good, and the tail lights let it down.

Porsche completed the sale of its 45 per cent of Bugatti Rimac and its stake in Rimac Group on 9 September 2026, taking about 1 billion euros and putting 250 million of it straight into pension obligations. Rimac Group now holds 55 per cent of Bugatti Rimac and a consortium led by HOF Capital holds 45 per cent. Christophe Piochon leaves after two decades and Mate Rimac adds President of Bugatti Automobiles to his titles. The engineering case for this is strong. The financial one is the question nobody has answered.

BYD's Yangwang U9 Xtreme is the halo. It hit 496.22 km/h at Papenburg and lapped the Nordschleife in 6:59.157. Behind it are Zeekr, Xiaomi, Nio, Denza, and XPeng, all building performance EVs with two, three, or four motors and specs Germany hasn't answered.
