The story
ABT is the largest tuner of Audi and Volkswagen Group cars in the world, and the performance arm of a family business with roots stretching back to 1896. From Kempten, Germany, it engineers power upgrades, aero, wheels and full conversions across the Audi range, and backs the badge with a serious motorsport programme that has taken titles in DTM and Formula E. For an S or RS Audi owner, ABT is the obvious first call.
The founder
The Abt name in cars goes back to Johann Abt, who built the family's 1896 workshop into a racing and tuning force. ABT Sportsline was formalised in 1991, and since 2011 it has been led by his son Hans-Jürgen Abt, the fourth generation of the family to run the business and the man behind its modern motorsport and tuning empire.
